Press release
High Wycombe solicitor hands over the reins
5 April 2010
The last day of March saw the retirement of one of Wycombe’s longest serving solicitors when Richard Hughes, senior partner of Reynolds Parry Jones, closed the door on his 39 years service with the firm.
The last few weeks have seen a number of informal events held at the firm’s offices, where Richard said his formal goodbyes to clients and to professionals from the local legal, property, and business worlds. These culminated with an in-house event on the 31st March when fellow partners and members of staff said their goodbyes and Richard formally handed over to Gillian Humphreys, the new senior partner.
Richard is a graduate of King’s College, London University and completed his articles in 1970 with a London firm, joining Reynolds Parry Jones at 10 Easton Street soon after in 1971 (when Sir Edward Heath was the incumbent at 10 Downing Street). Richard’s career was spent providing legal services to individuals and to businesses principally in the South Buckinghamshire area. He also devoted a fair amount of time supporting and assisting local charities and he was, during a period of more than 20 years, the Secretary of the Local Abbeyfield Society.
He currently lives, with his wife Liz, in Marlow although they plan to move soon to their beloved Cotswolds. His interests include his family (four children and five, soon to be six, grandchildren) family history and walking.
