Help for local business from the professionals

22 October 2009

Local solicitors Reynolds Parry Jones are planning to run two free seminars for local businesses next month.

The first, which is to be held on Tuesday 17th November, is the firm’s annual Employment Law update and will be the fifth such seminar held since 2005. The theme chosen by partner Robert Hill for this year is “Economic Uncertainty and Employment”.

Robert said “Difficult economic conditions mean that firms have to be very cost aware and this sometimes means looking at reducing labour costs. As business managers and owners will know, this requires careful consideration of the employment regulations. Our seminar is designed to help employers understand the important issues.”

The second seminar (on the following day, November 18th) will be held in conjunction with accountants, The Fish Partnership. The theme is “Recovery or Recession” and delegates will be given numerous tips on how they can protect their businesses in uncertain times and how to exploit potential opportunities arising out of the recession.

Carl Selby, a solicitor with Reynolds Parry Jones, who will speak at the seminar said “One consequence of difficult trading conditions is for businesses to look to their legal rights and obligations if faced for example, with a loss of business, or a bad debt, or a contract difficulty. We will provide advice on recognising these at an early stage so that the businesses can of the issues they face and react accordingly. In addition, Martin Sheehy of the Fish Partnership will address delegates with other safeguards of a financial nature which businesses can consider.”

Both seminars are co-sponsored with Business Link, open to all local businesses and are entirely free of charge. Both will be held at the High Wycombe Cricket Club.
